Fashion Philosophy

Where’s all the art?

Though it might seem as if the artistic aspect of fashion is missing in the bustle of commercial marketing and constantly changing trends, it actually is not the case if you look at the work of some of the most accomplished designers today.

Just like painting, sculpture or dance, there is an inspiration, that compels the designer to create, thus giving them a reason to create, a purpose. This compulsion can be due to numerous factors which could be emotional or inspired by internal or external circumstances. Regardless, the compulsion to create can be boiled down as a need to express,

Fashion creates a gate way for the human mind to express an inner truth, a belief or an idea, about oneself or the external world though the canvas of clothing. An emotion one can wear, which reflects themselves or the world around them.

Every aspect of a garment can tell a story, from the colors, texture, cut, drape to even minute subliminal details such as buttons which can signify strong ideals such as aspiration or innocence.

Now, owing to the union of technology and fashion, expressing yourself has become easier than ever. Through the MyWear® designer platform, you now have a blank canvas. Express your own emotional spectrum by launching your own clothing line under your own label.

So, whats your expression?

Top Fashion Trends Coming for You in 2017

Fashion Month is a wrap! If you’re looking for upcoming trends to unlock inspiration in your next MyWear collection, you’re in luck! We have scoured the runways in search of the next big thing. Our prediction? More is more. It appears that the zeitgeist has moved on to something bigger, shinier, and brighter. Almost as if in direct response to 90’s minimalism and the normcore tendencies of 2015 & 16, designers went all out for next year, guiding us to a more playful, out-of-the-box approach to dressing (seriously, you cannot fit these shoulders in a box). Find our 2017 trend picks below!

Oh my 80’s

2017-trend-80s

By far, the biggest trend to hit the Spring 2017 runways was 80s-EVERYTHING. Volume, shoulders, gold lame–it all made an appearance. Love it or hate it, you’ll be seeing far more of it in 2017, although we’ve yet to see how it will actually translate for everyday wear… Brace yourself, things could get interesting!

Something Old

2017-trend-something-old

Lace, ruffles and billowy, high-collar blouses-oh my!  Many collections had an old-timey, Victorian-esqe quality about them, although most were mixed with more modern aspects, as well. Gucci, for example, paired Victorian silhouettes with sequins, surprising colors, and graphic text. We’re predicting that we’ll all be seeing a lot more lacey and ruffled romantic frocks at the mall by this time next year.

Think Pink

2017-trend-think-pink

Neon colors were all over the runways, but by far the color that seemed to get the most props from designers was bright, playful pink… especially in the way of dresses. Design your own dress in your custom size here!

Hawaiian Tropic

2017-trend-tropical-prints

You can always expect to see floral prints on Spring runways, and 2017 is no different. But, next year, prints are on vacation. Get ready for some early-aughts Quicksilver nostalgia! The runways were filled with cheerful, tropical prints.

Shoulder Power

2017-trend-shoulders

Designers are still obsessed with shoulders. Summer 2016’s off-the-shoulder blouses will be replaced with Flash Dance-style skin-baring and shoulder pads that would make Klaus Nomi proud.

Dancing Queen

2017-trend-disco-sequins

Rupaul and Cher rejoice! Look at all the sequins that sparkled down the runway this month.

Stripe Up

2017-trend-stripes

Stripes are still cool af, according to 2017 collections. Keep them bright and a little cartoon-y to fit in with this trend.

As you can see, there’s a little something for everyone in 2017. But, fashion month shined down especially bright for those of us looking for bold designs, rich materials, and over-the-top inspiration. Thanks, NY, London, Milan, and Paris! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next season!

Calling this 2017 Fashion Trend Now!

Sorry, 90’s minimalism, you’ve had your fun. For the past year or two, it seems like every it girl has embraced black body suits, chokers, mom jeans, and, of course, those reflective round aviator sunglasses that seem to be everywhere. While the trend is still going strong (here’s looking at you Kendall, Gigi, and Hailey), celebrities and fashion’s elite are embracing a new aesthetic:

2017 trends

maxresdefault

You can thank the sartorial genius Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s current Creative Director, for this breath of fresh air. The designer’s cool-meets-geeky, vintage-inspired, more is more approach has rendered some of this year’s most exciting and talked about collections. And, as a result, we’re predicting one of 2017’s most popular aesthetics. Sequins? Check. Embroidery? Check. Ruffles? You know it. Bows, rose broaches, loud prints? Heck yes! You name it and it was probably featured in one of Gucci’s 2016 collections. And that’s just how we like it. There seems to be a little something for everyone, drawing nostalgia from multiple decades and locations while maintaining it’s own unique… je ne sais quoi?

But don’t take our word for it! These celebrities are hardily endorsing the eccentric, globally-inspired, 70s geek-glam mash-up:
